Scanning your artwork is the easiest way for the Journeys Editorial Board to view your piece, but if you choose to take a photo of it, here are some helpful tips to ensure that your photo is viewed in its optimal state by our editors and in the magazine:
- Use a camera of decent quality to take the photo of the art. Don't go and buy a $1000 dollar camera, but don't take it on a potato, either.
- Eliminate unnecessary canvas space if your piece is in a sketchbook.
- If you are submitting ceramic art, please use a neutral setting as the backdrop. We want always want your piece to be the central figure of the photo.
- Pay attention to the lighting of your piece. Natural lighting is usually the most optimal lighting.
